About

Alyson Van is an artist with an extensive history in both the entertainment industry and concert dance scene. She dances, sings, acts, choreographs, models, teaches, designs and directs youth education programs, and knows how to type this: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Her understanding and manipulation of how movement translates to static image has afforded her print campaigns with Apple Airpods, TUMI, Puma, Adidas, Ziran, Ilia Beauty, and HomeGoods.

Her ability to embody joy (and a little sass) and do a choreographed boogie has garnered her commercials for Old Navy, Pepsi, Lexus, Fabletics, Our Place, Doritos, AT&T, and more. This skill also brought her roles in films, TV, and award shows like Good Trouble, The Goldbergs, The Emmy’s, Euphoria, and ABC’s The Little Mermaid Live (where you can also hear her sing and voice several characters on the soundtrack).

She’s been on tour with Grimes and Lorde and has a host of music videos under her belt (cc: OneRepublic, Dua Lipa, Demi Lovato, et al).

Her emotionally honest and distinct storytelling voice has led her to choreograph ads, music videos, and tours for Lexus, Facebook x Beat Saber, Grimes, and Elizabeth I at the La Jolla Playhouse, as well as being the recipient of the 2013 Stewart Prize in Choreography from the University of California, San Diego. She’s been commissioned by the Windward School and her work has been performed at the 92nd St. Y, Qualcomm’s Calit2, and CPR- Center for Performance Research.

Alyson also really cares about quality dance education. Like, really, really cares. Over the years, she’s channeled her passion for self-discovery and dance into movement exploration workshops and the youth education, non-profit organization, Future Shock Los Angeles (a subdivision of Culture Shock Los Angeles). Her role there as Company Director has included reconstructing their dance curriculum and improving upon their youth empowerment/social justice area of service.

Alyson is trained in contemporary, hip hop, house, tap, contact improvisation, somatic techniques, ballet, modern, jazz, locking, whacking, new style hustle, and dance theater methodologies. She is a summa cum laude graduate of UC San Diego with a bachelor's in Dance and minor in Psychology.
